The nursing theory that I have chosen to guide my clinical practicum is the Health Promotion Model. Nursing theorist Nola Pender developed the Health Promotion Model. According to Nursing Theory (2013), the Health Promotion Model consists of five key concepts, which are person, environment, nursing, health, and illness. As an advanced practice nurses, it is vital to our role to help patient learn to care for themselves and assist them in making health choices. Participating in their own care will allow patient to prevent diseases, illnesses, and help lead to better care outcomes.
