Reflection Question

As we finish NR351, think about all the competencies you have explored in these eight weeks. Using reflective practice, address the following in your answer:

  • Select two Massachusetts Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies that you believe will have the most impact on your future professional nursing practice. Why are these the most important ones for you?
  • Identify one AACN BSN Essential that will be most important in improving quality in your future nursing practice. Explain why you selected that essential and how your practice will be improved by its use.

SOLUTION

Of all the Massachusetts Nurse of the Future Core Competencies, I believe patient centered care and leadership will have the greatest impacts on my future nursing career as an FNP. The strongest FNPs I know are those who focus on being a partner with their patients and who can lead and influence those around them. With aspirations of becoming a FNP I think it is important to learn to look at every aspect of my patient and allow them to guide their own care. From religious beliefs and family groups to cultural values and community settings, every aspect affects the care that the patient seeks to receive. Knowing what to do to care for a patient medically is not the only important aspect of becoming a great nurse practitioner. I think having the ability to fully assess and understand how the patient’s lifestyle and beliefs affect care and respecting the patient’s decision to receive or not receive care will make me a stronger nurse practitioner.….please click the purchase button to access the entire solution at $5
