SOLUTION

Star Point 1: Discovery (Identify topic and practice issue)

Identify the topic and the nursing practice issue related to this topic. (This MUST involve a nursing practice issue.)

My topic is the increase in surgical infection cases. Healthcare practitioners and facilities work to their best to ensure that no infections occur after a surgical procedure on a patient. Basically, when there is a surgical infection, any treatment is rendered ineffective and increases the emergence of new sickness for a patient. Therefore, there is an important need for healthcare practitioners to have in place practical and effective intervention measures.

Briefly describe your rationale for your topic selection. Include the scope of the issue/problem.

For any healthcare profession and facility, achieving a positive patient outcome is the goal of any healthcare intervention measure. But in order to achieve a positive as well as sustainable patient outcome, the safety of the patient must be the guiding principle for all treatment interventions.

Therefore, surgical infections are a clear example of how proper patient safety has not been achieved. In addition, the occurrence and presence of surgical infections further complicates the treatment process of a patient and might even lead to death. Defining the specific healthcare problem and identifying the causes of the healthcare problem should form the basis of establishing the objectives of a sustainable and safe healthcare intervention aimed at addressing the increase in the occurrence of surgical infections.

Star Point 2: Summary (Evidence to support need for a change)

Describe the practice problem in your own words and formulate your PICOT question

Basically, surgical infections occur due to the failure to utilize Chlorhexidine as prescribed. The prescription guidelines seek to ensure that issues related to pre-operative procedures carelessness; unprofessionalism; negligence and common errors do not arise. Few intervention measures are available to prevent the occurrence of surgical infections; infections often associated with negligence and surgical errors.…please click the purchase button below to access the entire solution at $10
