Congratulations on advancing to the final unit of BUS 1101, the opening course in your degree program!  For the Unit 8 Learning Journal, reflect for a few minutes on the four functions of management: Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling, represented by the acronym P-O-L-C.  In a 300-500 word Learning Journal, identify a management principle or method from the course for each of the four functions of management. In other words, describe a management practice from the course content relating to each of the four functions of management.

Managers should take steps to organize an aim in line with a plan, encourage others to follow it, and evaluate the plan’s effectiveness. When these four responsibilities are properly fulfilled, they form the basis of a powerful organizational system.

Planning  

The course’s planning-related material emphasizes the steps in deciding what you want to achieve and how you want to get there. Examples of such activities are creating a budget, making a schedule, and assigning roles.
