SOLUTION

  1. Define each of the following Confucian principles: ren, yi, li, zhi, and xin.

Ren – Confucians see ren as the notion that each human is not a morally independent creature, but rather a social being for whom identity arises from his interactions with others. The individual who demonstrates ren either embodies the ideal of what a human being needs to be or inspires others to strive for it. The notion of ren has been interpreted in several ways, some of which are translated as “goodness,” “benevolence,” or “love” in English.

Yi – By the reign of Confucius, yi had become synonymous with appropriate behavior, where suitable is assessed against some ethical norms that transcend ordinary social respect or shame. Yi is subjective and comes from wo, which means (I, myself) – a person with yi will not tolerate an insult or humiliation and has a high opinion of himself.….please click the purchase button below to access the entire solution at $5
