A teacher’s influence in teaching, discovery, integration, and application is reflected in Boyer’s model of scholarship. The scholarship of engagement, a subset of the application, offers academic staff the chance to provide information and abilities that could improve community health.

Ernest Boyer of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching created the Boyer Model. He identified four components of scholarship: discovery, application, integration, and teaching in his major work on scholarship and its priorities (Boyer, 1997).
