The physiology of the respiratory system
All the organs involved in the breathing are collectively referred to as the respiratory system. These organs include the nose, lungs, bronchi, pharynx, trachea, and larynx (Peate, 2018). The respiratory system’s primary functions are to bring in oxygen to the body and take out carbon dioxide as the waste product. The organs that constitute the respiratory system perform a vital function of gaseous exchange. The process by which atmospheric oxygen is inhaled via the nostrils into the lungs and diffuse into the tissues while carbon dioxide from body tissues is diffused into the lungs and expelled via the nostrils is referred to as the gaseous exchange.
