Since the nation’s founding, Congress has endeavored to determine how the government can promote economic growth. After the War of 1812, the nation was in dire need of a plan for financing expenses. It has financial issues and no viable solutions. In the 19th century, a 29-year-old Kentucky senator called Henry Clay changed this and became one of the most influential figures of his era. Clay suggested the “American System,” which centered on three important areas of government-sponsored initiatives to stabilize the nation’s economy and was similar to Hamilton’s proposals.
