In my present employment, nursing informatics plays a key role. When we first started this course, I assumed that nurses were the ones who made the most use of informatics in my field of work in the orthopedic operating room; however, now that we’re well past the halfway point, I’ve come to realize that informatics is integral to a wide variety of roles within my field. Certified scrub technicians are in charge of all scopes, navigation systems for total joint replacements, and camera/video recording equipment, while nurses are responsible for documenting all intraoperative events.
