Discussion

Building self-awareness of our verbal and non-verbal communication allows us to grow in our communication skills. What resources do you use to improve your awareness of your communication skills in the professional setting?

Interprofessional collaboration to improve patient outcomes depends on our professional communication skills. What are the most effective communication skills that nurses bring to collaborative interactions? Why are those so important in your own practice?

Communication is a vital part of our daily professional lives as nurses. Our patients rely on us to collaborate with the interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary teams to coordinate their care, and to communicate plans of care and education needed to carry out those plans. The first method I use to evaluate my own communication skills is observation of those non-verbal cues that I am receiving. When I receive feedback such as a relaxed posture, head nodding in agreement and positive facial expressions….please click the purchase button below to access the entire solution at $5
